God Is Faithful; Why Aren’t We? – Week 2: We Didn’t See It, So We Don’t Believe it.

Published on

Hey ya and thanks for joining me again as we continue our discussion on “God is Faithful; Why Aren’t We?”  This week we will be talking about learning to trust in what we can’t see.  Let’s jump right into it!

What are some things that we trust in, but don’t necessarily see with our own eyes?  First thing that comes to mind for me is our bodily functions.  For example, we can’t see our hearts pumping blood, nor can we see our liver filtering what we put into our bodies, nor our kidneys producing urine, nor our stomachs digesting food, and so on and so forth.  If we take a moment to think about all the things that happen in the body without being able to see them, we could sit here for hours making a list of occurrences.  However, regardless of our ability to see these things taking place, we put trust in that our bodies are doing what they are designed to do. If we can put such trust in our bodies, why is it so difficult to put that same amount of trust in God?

Like our bodily functions, we cannot see God’s hand at work. We cannot see Him moving for us, nor protecting us, nor blessing us, and due to this, often times, we create an excuse for our misalignment and disobedience of His will. Once we come to the realization that we are to walk by FAITH, NOT by sight [2 Corinthians 5:7], we can now walk in God’s promise to those who love Him.

The following scriptures are examples of God’s promise to those who believe in Him, love Him and are obedient to His perfect and pleasing will for us, His children.

“Jesus said to him, “[You say to Me,] ‘If You can?’ All things are possible for the one who believes and trusts [in Me]!” -Mark 9:23

“I assure you and most solemnly say to you, anyone who believes in Me [as Savior] will also do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these [in extent and outreach], because I am going to the Father.” -John 14:12

“Let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful [to His word];” -Hebrews 10:23

“for we walk by faith, not by sight [living our lives in a manner consistent with our confident belief in God’s promises]-” -2 Corinthians 5:7

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], so that He may exalt you [to a place of honor in His service] at the appropriate time,” -1 Peter 5:6-7

“Blessed [with spiritual security] is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord And whose hope and confident expectations is the Lord.” -Jeremiah 17:7

“Do not fear [anything], for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you; I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand [a hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation].” -Isaiah 41:10

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” -Joshua 1:9
